Who We Are

Hecho de Mano Tortillería started with a simple standard: do it the right way.

By hand. In small batches. No shortcuts.

That standard comes from growing up in West Texas, where tortillas weren’t just food—they were part of everyday life. With deep Mexican roots and a grandfather who always had fresh, homemade tortillas on the table, there was a clear expectation: they should be warm, soft, and made with care. Not from the back of the shelf. Not rushed. Made right.

Today, that same approach carries into everything we do in Portland. We make flour tortillas using straightforward ingredients and a process grounded in tradition. Each batch is mixed, rolled, and cooked with intention, focusing on texture, flavor, and consistency.

What we make is simple—but it’s not basic.

A good tortilla should hold up to a meal, not disappear into it. It should be soft but structured, rich but balanced. It should feel like something someone actually made—because it was.

Hecho de Mano means “made by hand.”

And that’s not just a name—it’s the standard we hold every day.
